Aside from those, then you get into nit-picky items such as serviceability, parts availability, etc. Got XTs on my canyon strive and magura trail sport on my Marin sq, and overall I get the feeling of not having to think that much of breaking when Im on my Marin sq1 with maguras (and thats a good thing, to be clear :)). I've done some looking around and have narrowed it down to two options. Magura Brakes, I think ease of maintenance would go to Shimano.
