Some also say that the cooler also keeps the VRAM cooler (which causes the GPU to run a tad hotter), but I see the same overall 94C for the VRAM too. I'd like to compare with my results. I changed from the TUF OC to the STRIX OC. It made overclocking a piece of cake without the inherent base activity. if yes, what stable frequency are you getting for that voltage? Are you sure it is locked at only 0.7mV? And yes, I think that when full on ray tracing is in effect the card will still draw what it 'needs' in terms of wattage, up to a certain point. I also noticed that by default the card sets the target temperature internally to be 70C despite a temperature threshold being set in MSI Afterburner. It seems to be throttling because on some games the core clock is running at 1920MHz but it drops to 1545MHz on Heaven however on the manufacturers page states these specs: Did you get a decent deal on eBay? Bonnouji Need to check on the weekend. Maybe I should try to tomorrow and see how far my card will go on auto, with the powerlimit set to max - kinda curious what the temps will be, and were the clockspeed will settle. When it came up, it immediately gave an advantage to Nvidia because the memory didn't have to suffer the full brunt unless the gpu needed it a hundred percent. So my settings was 1815MHz @850mV, with 137% powerlimit. I have no clue how mining affects graphics cards. So the speed of your CPU driving your graphics card harder absolutely affects this. Hey folks! Linus Media Group is not associated with these services. Welcome to TechPowerUp Forums, Guest! Keeping my fingers crossed. What if you instead could find a way to lower both the temperature and the power draw while still getting almost the same performance? Posted in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory, By I was happy with the TUF and didn't know it. Reset everything and then start by lowering the clock frequency about 250 -280 MHz. StickyPC I believe it was called tiled rendering. I choose first to set the voltage to 825 mV. I had a 3080 TUF that, according to my old notes, was stable at 1800MHz and 837mV. Well, my card is around 35c at idle too, so it's kinda close. But the temperature is just comparable with my TUF OC (up to 75C), consuming around the same amount of power as the TUF (up to 320W), but much noisier at stock fan speeds. It seems that the power hungry design does make it run hotter. Open voltage/frequency curve (Ctrl+F) then note the maximum frequency at the right of the curve. The elmor evc2 is what I use to control the onboard voltage controllerdirectly. We already know that you can lower the power limit, so far, so boring. It's not though that there is a hashrate restriction on this card. Power consumption scale linearly with clock. Like i say i think ive missed my chance to get a card out of this batch due to changing my order. I guess I'll stick with a fan curve that goes up to 1700 RPM for 80C. Not that you could just take their word for it IDK. Kingpin bios force the card to run regardless the voltage. I seem to be stable but not wanting to run into problems when ray tracing is introduced. So yeah; Heaven until freeze or crash and thenTime Spy Stress Test. rodilool Wauw, yeah, that doesn't sound good at all with the FTW3 If you look at recent generations the card with the highest OC'd cores / memory is rarely the one with the highest fps. Both settings compete against the stock values of the Gigabyte Gaming OC with the newest driver. I'd be willing to sacrifice some hash speed for silence, if possible. Edit: It might be even better or need a bit higher voltage. Bjrn Endre
Does MSI gaming trio has better memory cooling? Games crashes after a couple of minutes. Now that crashes fast. It has more CUDA cores, which means it can handle more complex algorithms. A bit lower IMHO but that is what I got here. Tweaking the curve a bit brings it to 82-83C at a slower fan curve that I find comparable noise wise to the TUF's stock one.
